Brooklyn: Russian Literary Series: Sergei Loiko presents “Airport”

Sergei Loiko is a war correspondent and photographer who covered Afghanistan and Iraq for LA Times. His novel “Airport” is based on a true story of the heroic and dramatic 242-day defense of Donetsk airport by Ukrainian troops heavily outnumbered and outgunned by pro-Russia separatists and regular Russian troops which invaded eastern Ukraine in the summer of 2014. He is currently working on a follow-up book on the fateful flight of Malaysian Boing 777 that was gunned down over Ukraine in July 2014.

Albany: The 18th Annual High School Regional Juried Art Exhibition

The Opalka Gallery is pleased to host the 18th Annual High School Regional Juried Art Exhibition presenting artwork by students from 21 regional high schools. The exhibit runs Tuesday, March 21 through Sunday, April 23. There will be a reception on Friday, March 24 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with an awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m.

This year’s exhibit is juried by Jean Dahlgren, artist and Dean of the Sage College of Albany, Daniel Goodwin, artist and Head of Photography and Related Media in the Department of Art and Art History at the University at Albany, and Elizabeth Greenberg, Director, Opalka Gallery at The Sage Colleges.

You will learn both interior and exterior architectural photography and how to best capture the buildings’ grandeur as well as their simplicity.
