Cleveland: Disaster Preparedness Training

April 04, 2017 at Vanderkamp Center in Cleveland.

This training is open to all women of the church, so I hope you will promote this training in every congregation, even those without a PW circle/group/cluster. If you would like to send me church contact information I would be happy to send every congregation information on the training. I have contacted Genesee Valley presbytery and asked them to promote on their website and I will explore that possibility with the other presbyteries and the Synod of the Northeast. We have only 4 women registered for the training; two from Cayuga-Syracuse, one from Genesee Valley and the Vanderkamp director, Penny James. The advantages in having 2-6 women trained per presbytery is that training with a buddy is fun, more churches can receive the training, and distances traveled are fewer.

All expenses for the training are paid; mileage, lodging, meals. There is no cost to the participants. Please let me know how I can help you promote this training to those who want to help others.

Albany: Lobby for the New York Health Act!

April 04, 2017 at Legislative Office Building in Albany.

Please join the P&S and Mailman chapters of Students for a National Health Program (SNaHP) in Albany for the annual statewide lobby day to advocate for the New York Health Act – the bill to guarantee healthcare to ALL New Yorkers (like Medicare-for-all for New York State!)

The New York Health Act passed the Assembly in 2015 and 2016 with huge majority support. We need to pass it in the Assembly again this year and keep pushing the Senate to get this to the Governor’s desk to make health care equality a reality for New Yorkers.

FREE transportation both ways will be provided for all students who register. We hope to have a large contingent from CUMC!

If you pre-register by March 27th, the Campaign for NY Health will provide you with training materials and plug you into a team for the lobby day meetings. Because we are targeting elected officials who have not yet signed on to support the New York Health Act, we cannot guarantee a meeting with your legislator. However, we are ALSO planning Thank You Brigades to acknowledges the legislators who have sponsored New York Health and taken a stand for healthcare for all. Please be in touch if you’d like to set up a meeting with your elected official for the day at info@pnhpnymetro.org.

Tentative Schedule for the day:
10:00am – Registration, Coffee and Bagels (location TBD)
10:15am – Briefing for the day (location TBD)
11:30am – Rally for universal health care (location TBD)
1 – 3:30pm – Meetings with legislators on the New York Health Act and “Thank You Brigades”

Questions? Email info@pnhpnymetro.org or call 212-580-2554

Address: 198 State St, Albany

New York: Psychedelic Integration Monthly Group

March 15, 2017 at The Center For Optimal Living in New York.

New: You can now purchase tickets for any month this year – just follow the link and choose the date you want!

Ticketing link: https://psychedelicprogram.eventbrite.com

Have you had a psychedelic experience and are looking for someone to talk to? Curious about what you’ve read about psychedelics in the news? Or maybe someone you know uses psychedelics and you’re wondering if it’s safe?

Come to one of our monthly public groups to learn more, share your story, and have your questions answered in a safe, supportive environment. Each meeting will be facilitated by Dr. Katherine MacLean, the director of the Psychedelic Education and Continuing Care Program and will include guided meditation, experiential exercises and group discussion.

Psychedelic integration groups will be held once a month on Wednesdays from 7-9pm at our new location at 370 Lexington Ave, Suite 500 (corner of 41st and Lexington).

Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to check-in and get settled. Because of the intimate nature of the experience, we will begin promptly at 7 and you may not be allowed to join the group if you arrive late.

Tickets for each group are $30 per person. Contact us at info@psychedelicprogram.com using your .edu email for a $15 student discount ticket. Discounts are also available by purchasing a group package (3 groups for $75). Donations in support of our education and training services can be made by purchasing a Patron ticket for $60 per group.

If you have had a personal psychedelic experience, whether it was intensely positive or challenging and confusing, this is a fantastic opportunity to share your story and learn from others about how to integrate the lessons from these experiences into your daily life. The group is also open to people who have never had a personal experience with psychedelics. We will focus on best practices for implementing positive life changes and reducing potential harms associated with psychedelic use.

In keeping with the law and out of respect for your fellow group members, we strongly discourage the active use of psychedelics or other psychoactive drugs during group meetings.

This event is hosted by The Psychedelic Program, with the support of the Center for Optimal Living. Information about The Psychedelic Program, including monthly groups, experiential workshops, individual psychotherapy, and educational and training events, can be found at www.psychedelicprogram.com
