Rochester: Fund Your Film and Get it Out There Workshop

October 03, 2015 at RCTV, Rochester’s Community Media Center in Rochester.

If you’ve ever dreamed of producing a film, but been concerned about how to cover the costs and how to distribute it, this workshop is for you! Veteran actor, Film Producer and Executive Producer Christopher Wilmot will present a one-evening workshop on ways to find funding for a film. In this workshop, Chris will cover:

~ Most important question: Can you ‘afford’ to make a movie? Considering how many films are made every year, worldwide, is this the best investment of your time, energy, and money?
~ If the answer above is YES, what sources will you use to finance your film? If you are not asking family and friends for money, you’ll never make budget (especially if it’s your first film).
~ Grants, Loans, & ‘Angel’ investors: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
~ What investors will require and be looking for in return for their investment (i.e., gross points, etc.)
~ Overall film budget: Figure 10-20% more than you imagined.
~ Now your film is complete: How to apply to film festivals and secure a distributor.

Chris Wilmot has worked in the political arena as well as the film arena as an Actor, Producer and Executive Producer. His works have aired on Encore Action Network, Showtime, The Movie Channel, Netflix, been and distributed by Sony/Columbia Pictures and won awards at worldwide film fests.

Brooklyn: This Old House

November 07, 2015 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brooklyn.

Empire City Men’s Chorus kicks off our fall winter season Thriving Together with our first ever November concert This Old House.

Join us for an hour-long tribute concert with music old and new, representing change and constancy. Musical highlights include works by Mendelssohn, Carly Simon, Marisa Michelson, Ysaye M. Barnwell and more. We are especially thrilled to debut “Shelter Song”, a piece commissioned by ECMC from Kyle Randall, our composer-in-residence.

New House. Old Soul.

“When a structure like ECMC’s house has stood strong for over 20 years, there’s a lot to be proud of. Many brothers have moved in and out. The house has been repainted, redecorated and has been under the care of a vast array of caretakers over the years. But one thing hasn’t changed – the firm commitment to musical excellence that we share, coupled with deep fraternity in music. Today’s men of ECMC are living in an age where technology moves at the speed of light. They are parts of the body of humans that keep this amazing city running. Yet, with all of their disparate lives, they manage to come home every Tuesday evening to this same old house to share their stories and each other’s in song. In essence, these men are building and re-building this house, and each of them is a vital part of its fabric. Just as the house has been here for them all these years, they continue to be here to care for the house.”
