Third Realm : https://www.facebook.com/ThirdRealm

Known for an eclectic style, Third Realm explores the elements of several underground genres resulting in a diverse mix of sound. Heavily influenced by Dark Wave and Industrial artists, Third Realm puts their own twist on things demonstrating strong production skills, clever songwriting and meaningful lyrics. Third Realm has received international recognition through club/radio play, film placement and has shared the stage with some notable bands such as Psyclon Nine, Dawn of Ashes, Voltaire, Aesthetic Perfection, Hanzel Und Gretyl, Seabound, Panic Lift, Surgyn, Architect, VOWWS & more!

The Finality Complex [Full Band Debut Show] : https://www.facebook.com/TheFinalityComplex

A solo industrial rock project of Paul Burt (aka DJEKS), a classically-trained multi-instrumentalist and composer. Look for shows around the Buffalo, NY and Pensacola, FL areas. The sounds you will hear are a combination of electronic rock and industrial metal with a mix of unusual time signatures, modal tonalities, and key modulations to create a very unique sound, a combination of intricate compositional elements from classical music with the aggressive sound of industrial metal.

Digital Afterlife : https://www.facebook.com/DigitalAfterlife

Digital Afterlife is an Alternative Electronic band from Buffalo, NY comprised of brothers Paul & Greg Burt. After forming in late 2011, they’ve been regularly performing, creating, & crafting their own sound. This duo of music veterans surge through genres, creating a realm of their own within the confides of electronic music. Becoming one with a sound that always lingers in the back of your mind. One that can soothe, haunt, or control you when you least expect it.

FutureAngel : https://www.facebook.com/futureangelofficial

FUTUREANGEL is an act of tantric insurrection. We exalt in the phantasmagoria of body and dream — and in doing so we blur the line between real and unreal. We infringe upon the perceived confines of reality by invoking the timeless dimensions beneath, crystallizing the utopian imaginary into the vividly manifest.

Brooklyn: Andy Statman Trio

December 17, 2016 at Brooklyn Jewish Art Gallery at CKI in Brooklyn.

A night of Bluegrass and Klezmer in Brooklyn.

“There are those who know Andy Statman as the virtuoso klezmer clarinetist – violinist Itzhak Perlman, for instance, who chose Statman to lead his klezmer album. There are those who know Andy Statman as the down-home mandolin player with a stack of straight-up bluegrass albums to his credit. In Statman’s versatile hands is a music that’s full of surprises, sophisticated and completely accessible at once.”
The New York Daily News

“One of the most influential musicians in modern acoustic music … He helped invent the language of progressive bluegrass [and] went on to rediscover klezmer music and reintroduce it to the world.”
The Rocky Mountain News

” … One of the most important Jewish creative artists of the postwar era.”
The Jerusalem Post
“One of the greatest mandolinists of this – or any – era … He thinks at the speed of light and can play whatever he thinks of. As an improviser, he is fearless, and his musical vocabulary has no limitations.” Chicago Tribune

“A master of two idioms linked only by their demand for virtuosity and their down-home origins … ” – The New York Times

“The one-of-a-kind Statman fuses the cross-picking of Jesse McReynolds with the atonal jabs of Albert Ayler, embodying like no other mandolinist jazz’s ‘sound of surprise.’ ” – Chicago Tribune

Statman is an inspired clarinetist, whose ecstatic improvisations on Chassidic themes express the mystical nature of Judaism through wild flights and leaps into the unknown.” – Bay Area Reporter

“He is impeccable in everything he does… He plays all the styles he plays with equal prowess. He’s a consummate musician. What more can I say?” – Paul Shaffer
Statman’s virtuosity has labeled him a genius by his peers.” – The Village Voice

“He segues from bluegrass to jazz to klezmer faster than you can say ‘multiculturalism.’ ” – New York Live

“Bill Monroe and John Coltrane poured into one person. .. He plays all those just great crazy jazz kind of licks, but with the heart and fire of Bill Monroe … I don’t know anyone else that approaches the mandolin the way he does.”
Ricky Skaggs, NPR

“He stirs a mind-blowing blaze of mandolin … blues licks have the energy of a Stevie Ray Vaughn speed run or trebly Hendrix bent-string crescendo, only unplugged … ” – Relix Magazine

Rochester: The White Hots at Three Heads Beer Garden

December 02, 2016 at Three Heads Brewing in Rochester.

The White Hots sound comes from the souls of seasoned blues and jazz musicians. Since 2001 the core ensemble of four and up to seven members have performed standards and original music with swing, groove, humor, and passion.

“ I just feel better after I hear this band”. They carry with them the spirit of their influences: Parisian swing, the blues of Chicago, a trace of opera and a dash of vaudeville. You will find them performing concerts down by a riverside, or the tapping floors of a swing dance hall.

One night it’s a juke joint at midnight and the next a PBS special. With 4 Cd’s and ten years behind them this is a great band to hear, performing everywhere from private parties to major festivals.

Buffalo: Talk: The Intimate Rivalry Between Picasso and Matisse

December 08, 2016 at Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo.

On the occasion of “Picasso: The Artist and His Models,” The Boston Globe art critic Sebastian Smee, author of “The Art of Rivalry,” will give a talk titled “Never Afraid of Influence: The Intimate Rivalry Between Picasso and Matisse, 1906–1917,” about the complex dynamic between Picasso and Matisse in the first decade of their acquaintance. Both artists were making breakthroughs that would redefine art in the twentieth century. Both were also learning from one another, even as they competed for leadership of the avant-garde and for the support of crucial collectors and dealers, including Leo, Gertrude, and Sarah Stein, and Ambroise Vollard. He will trace the course of this intimate rivalry and speculate about the psychological dynamics at its heart.

Picasso: The Artist and His Models” features paintings, sculptures, drawings, and prints by Pablo Picasso from the Albright-Knox’s collection alongside iconic paintings on loan from museums in both Europe and the United States, exploring the career of this protean artist between 1906 and the mid-1960s. It is on view from November 5, 2016, to February 19, 2017.
