[Hatis Noit] Female vocalist, born in Shiretoko (Hokkaido), Japan. Currently based in Tokyo, Hatis Noit draws on her experience with ballet, theater arts, traditional folk music, koto, gagaku (the court music of ancient Japan) and acting. She is also the vocalist of the band Mutyumu (Virgin Babylon Records hosted by world’s end girlfriend), which has received both domestic and international praise. At her solo project, Hatis Noit uniquely interprets classical music, whisper, ethnic music, poetry reading within her singing, and has established a solemn and formidable world music that consists of only her voice. Her collaborations in the art, fashion and theatre scene have also been highly regarded. In 2013, she took part in one of YAGYA’s (Iceland) songs as vocalist (released by DELSIN RECORDS, Amsterdam). She has released her 1st solo album “Universal Quiet” in 2014, and her 2nd album “Illogical Dance” in 2015. Her newest single “Illogical Lullaby” features an edit by Matmos (Thrill Jockey Records).

Melodic layers of synthesizers coupled with syncopated kicks and percussion that evolves into poly-rhythmic territory.
[Lulla LayLa] Lulla is a Japanese Singer/Song Writer and Composer originally based in Tokyo, Japan.
Lulla’s music has Japanese traditional elements combined with a psychedelic folk sensibility. Her music delivers haunting piano ballads spanning subjects from love life and everything in between.
On several occasions audience members from different parts of the world have said to Lulla, ” Your music makes me nostalgic because your music seems like my country’s music.”, even though she was not familiar with their country songs. She feels maybe her blood remembers other lives and this sentiment comes through in her compositions. She loves the idea of people coming together through folk sensibility and music.
The line up of Lulla’s current solo project is, vocals and piano / Lulla Miyuki, bass / Mike Gallina , guitar / Michael Biskup, percussion / Steve Honoshowsky and Ud / Alejandro Castellano.
Recently Lulla is also producing a dance ensemble with her music.

[Iyco & Kaka Furaha] IYCO’s ambition is to create music which evokes images of nature such as sky, sea, wind, rain and earth. Her aim is to incorporate African-style music in her compositions. In this way, she can create her own unique brand of Japanese-African music. She has set her sights on introducing this to the world.

– History
2009: IYCO started to sing solo.
2010: 1st album “UTA” released in Japan.
2011: “Himawari” is used for ending theme of ABC’s “Street Fighters” TV program.
2012: Performed at Fuji Rock Festival.
2013: 2nd album “MOYO” released in Japan. Formed band “IYCO & KAKA FURAHA” with Fuyuki on guitar and Tisavo & Missy as backing vocalists.
2015: Performed at the Zimbabwe’s prestigious “Harare InternationalFestival of the Arts” in May.

[Twisty BonBon] A brand new Japanese female duo from Brooklyn, New York. A mesmerizing combination of BonBon’s strong vocal performance and Twisty’s fantastic tracks is reminiscent of Showa Kayo (Japanese popular songs from the 60’s-80’s) and swing jazz, instantly grabs the audience’s ears and eyes.

New York: Poetic License Presents: Love & War The Battle of the Heart

April 02, 2016 at Wild Project in New York.

After popular demand and two sold out performances last Fall, Love & War hits the stage again.

This is how I love.
This is where the broken get to dance
This is where the whole get to break.

Join us for our finale: (Followed by drinks & music)
Saturday, April 2nd at 9pm.

“I am the best kind of filthy/ Holy and Witchcraft.
Made from the best soil/ Planted and always becoming.” – Keomi Tarver

Creating a space for the complexities of being a woman of color. Using movement, poetry and music, Keomi welcomes the vulnerability love and war brings to the surface. She boldly shares her moments of shame, and her experiences while learning to live in her body and being with all the magic, anguish, and divinity within her. She chooses to find the worthy in all of her, finding the beauty of being broken and how it lets light, not only in, but out. Showing how opposing extremes can occupy the same space, finding the grace and love in the midst of the war. Leaning on and supporting women while creating abundance and celebration in womanhood along the way, every city will feature local artists, creating relevance and representation. Love & War asks all the hard questions we keep tucked away due to fear, leaving us exposed and, eventually, free.
