Triskelion Arts is pleased to present the late-April installment of the Split Bill series on April 21 through 24 at 7:30pm in the Muriel Schulman Theater. The Split Bill program aims to serve emerging and mid-career artists looking for a stepping-stone between the showcase format and evening-length self-production. Unlike many showcases, this series encourages the development of premiere, long-form pieces between 20 and 40 minutes. Split Bill presents all kinds of movement-based work shared over two nights, each night offering two different companies. At least two of the participating artists or companies will be selected for a shared or solo run in the Muriel Schulman Theater as part of Triskelion Arts Presents’ 2016-2017 Season.

Rochester: 90-Second Newbery Film Festival

April 03, 2016 at The Dryden Theatre in Rochester.


RCTV, George Eastman Museum, Kids Out and About and Writers & Books are partnering to bring James Kennedy, author of The Order of Odd-Fish, and the Fifth Annual 90-Second Newbery Film Festival, a national kids’ festival that he founded, to Rochester for a special screening. The screening in Rochester will feature works by kids and teens from Rochester, NY as well as the top submissions from around the country!

The 90-second videos, submitted by kids nationally, are works that are based on Newbery Honor or Award Books. They are done in any format the kids can come up with, including comedy, drama, musical, animation, claymation, puppetry and more!

We’re excited to announce that local author Linda Sue Park will co-host with James Kennedy. Ms. Park has written many books for youth. In 2002, she won the Newbery Award for her book, A Single Shard, and her book A Long Walk to Water: Based on a True Story, spent many weeks on the New York Times Bestseller List.

An additional bonus to the afternoon, George Eastman Museum will show one of the Charlie Chaplin shorts from their collection, and the film will be accompanied by one of George Eastman Museum’s musicians!

The screening of this event is FREE to attend, but everyone MUST register in order to reserve a spot, since seats are limited! (Note: registration will also be available on the 90-Second Newbery and George Eastman Museum website, so please register only once!)

Boston-based Irish musicians Lindsay Straw and Caroline O’Shea bring a seamless blend of traditional songs and tunes from Ireland and the British Isles to their performances. Years spent playing together as a duo and as part of the band The Ivy Leaf have shaped their core repertoire of traditional Irish tunes on the flute and tin whistle, of agile bouzouki and guitar accompaniment and fingerpicking, and of heartfelt songs and ballads.

ShirLaLa is a unique and innovative approach to Jewish education which incorporates music, interactive storytelling, imaginative play and spirituality to enrich and inspire children, their families and their teachers. This event is for babies-10 years old and is FREE!

This event is ALSO unique in that it is a community endeavor. Wolk Children’s Center, Keshet Preschool, and many other local Jewish organizations are working together on the design and implementation of the larger program.

Wineries, Cideries, and a Distillery from the Lake Ontario Wine Trail will convene at Colloca Estate Winery providing you with the opportunity to sample our local wines, craft ciders and spirits.
