With 20 years of experience appraising antique silver, Todd Sell, Vice President at Doyle New York will, discuss the tools needed to efficiently appraise silver in today’s market. He will discuss details such as hallmarks, provenance, repairs and alterations and how they affect value. Furthermore, he will focus on prices today and where they are heading, as well as the importance of quality makers vs. generic pieces. Finally, he will touch on silver plate, what to do with it, and the few exceptions where there is value.
Todd Sell is Vice President of Modern Design, silver specialist and general appraiser of works of art and furniture at Doyle New York. He works directly with Doyle New York‘s Trusts & Estates Department and coordinates and catalogues DOYLE + DESIGN and the popular Doyle At Home auctions.
