Binghamton: Submissions for the 2015 Playwrights and Artists Festival

August 31, 2015 at KNOW Theatre in Binghamton.

Hello All!

I hope this finds you all well. And I hope you have your playwrighting chops at the ready. It is that time again! Time to check out the artwork for this years festival.

The artwork is

1. Jerry Ott (American, b. 1947), Study for Ann’s Obession (Birds in Guilded Cages), 2014, acrylic on panel, 40 x 52 inches

2. Chang Park (Korean), Untitled_F, 2014 oil on canvas, 24 x 24 inches

3. Bruce Evans (American, b. 1950), Spontaneous Combustion, 2014, acrylic on cradled hardboard, 16 x 20 inches
(pictures in thread and on KNOW’s Fan page)

The rules remain the same and are as follows.

Live viewing options TBA

Criteria for Playwright Submissions are

1. Play must be inspired by one of the above works of art.

2. Play length is limited to 15-20 minutes maximum (no exceptions).

3. Cast size no greater than 5 characters. Set should be implied.

4. Playwright, if chosen, must be available to attend performances.

The deadline for play submissions is August 31 at midnight. There will be no exceptions. Plays will then be sent to be adjudicated and those chosen will have some time for tweaking if needed.

Please submit plays to

binghamtoncitystage@gmail.com subject should be “playwrights festival submissions

Please include a front page with name and title (which will be removed upon sending to adjudicators). Please ONLY put your name at the front of the script as we are trying to keep the submissions anonymous for the adjudication process. And please indicate what piece of artwork you were inspired by.

November dates are TBA. All performances are at 8 pm.

As in previous years there will be 3 plays chosen for each artwork. Those chosen will need to be present for one of the performances. In person is highly preferable but we do understand monetary constraints and do not want to discourage our far away writers from participating. We have in the past used skype for playwrights to both watch their play and participate in the talk back. As always is the case the experience is best in person but we are an understanding lot.

So we look forward to seeing your submissions and wish you all the best of luck!

Binghamton: First Friday at the Bundy presents: BARBIE DREAM HOUSE OF HORRORS – The Art of Lindsay Rae Baker

July 03, 2015 at The Bundy Museum of History & Art in Binghamton.

Opening Reception First Friday
July 3, 2015 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
On display 7/3 – 8/3

The Third Floor Gallery is open
Tuesday – Saturday 11-5 pm and is always free.

Artist statement:
This is a tribute to all the media I absorbed growing up, from toys I played with, to VHS cartoons I wore out from re-watching too many times. Two major influences that carry through my work is Pin up Art (early on she took the form of a Barbie doll) and skeletons (thanks to a 1920s Mickey Mouse short I owned as a child). As I kept repeating and paring these images, the two never lost interest to me.

Artist Bio:
Lindsay Rae Baker is a Binghamton native who has wanted to share her artwork with the world since she was little. She enjoys coffee and thinking too much about cartoons when she isn’t painting. Her goal is to create and display as much artwork as possible, and inspire everyone else to do the same.
