Our upcoming discussion will focus on the highly celebrated book The Mis-Education of the Negro, written by author, scholar, and journalist, Carter G. Woodson. As it relates to the text, we will analyze the role of education, specifically in urban communities, in contributing to a series debilitating factors effecting the Black community.

Blacklist Book Club is a bi-monthly multicultural social event focused solely on the discussion of Black literature and the interlocking themes associated with race, gender and class in America and other sections of the African Diaspora. The event is curated in New York City by writer and entrepreneur Amira Rasool and co-moderated by Corey Smith-West.

The Sunday afternoon event will feature a one hour social period where guest are encouraged to socialize and independently discuss the featured literature and topics related to the books theme. During this time, light refreshments and drinks will be availble via a cash bar.

For the discussion portion of the event attendees are encouraged to share their thoughts on the book and discuss relevant topics and events.
